This is no longer the case with current models (so the Chaos Knight is absolutely fine, for example) but this is why models like the Plague Hulk were discontinued. It is important to resolve this because the plane where the resin body and plastic base meet includes the six leg joints. The best method in my opinion is to saw the plastic base.
